Ingredients for beans stew

Make the necessary preparations and buy the ingredients below.

  • Tomato
  • Pepper
  • Water
  • onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Beans (cowpeas)
  • Seasoning (maggi, onga cube, garlic)
  • 2 pounds of Dried fish
  • Momone (option)
  • Salted fish
  • Nutmeg
  • Palm(red) oil / vegetable oil
  • Tomato paste

Steps to prepare beans stew.

Follow the directions below after getting all the ingredients for beans stew in Ghana.

  1. Rinse beans with plenty water. Make sure it is well cleaned.
  2. Pour beans (peas) into a large cooking pot and add a moderate amount of water. Three cups of water is suitable for the start.
  3. Put it on fire and boil for at least 1 hour
  4. Once beans is tender, add a little amount of salt and set aside.
  5. Rinse onions, smoked fish, salted fish and tomato
  6. Chop onions, tomato and cut salted fish into smaller pieces.
  7. Remove bones from fish if any and set aside.
  8. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  9. Add chopped onion and cook for 3 minutes.
  10. Add salted fish and tomato and stir well. Simmer for about 5 minutes
  11. Add tomato paste and little amount of water and stir.
  12. Add pepper and stir.
  13. Grind or blend beans into preferrable texture.
  14. Pour the beans into the frying pan and stir well.
  15. Add a moderate amount of salt and simmer for at least 10 minutes.
  16. Serve with plain rice or fried plantain.
